Aerial Kids

Fitness for the Whole Child…and the Whole Tween

Ages 5-6 and 7-11
AG Kids is a fully vetted, piloted fitness program for ages 5-12 that uses a developmentally appropriate, child-centered technique—and the AntiGravity Hammock—to develop essential fitness skills.

This is not an adult class modified for children.
The AG Kids fitness program offers two stand-alone, 10-class series that is grounded in sound pedagogy and a movement methodology that is specific to children’s developmental ages and stages.

AntiGravity Fitness is currently certifying new AG Kids instructors and expanding the program to new studios and centers internationally.

Creative, Noncompetitive Kids Fitness

The fun aerial poses and sequences of AG Kids, such as Monkey in a Tree, spark the imagination and engage the whole child—body, mind, and soul. As children imagine, they swing, spin, stretch, hang upside-down (and much more), creating their own unique expressions by using their bodies and their voices. All the while, they are gaining greater fitness and athletic skills:

  • Kinesthetic intelligence
  • Aerobic fitness
  • Core strength
  • Agility
  • Flexibility
  • Rhythm and grace
  • Proprioception skills
  • Vestibular system fine-tuning
  • Coordination
  • Self-confidence, and
  • Focus

This is
not a calisthenics class

There’s nothing else quite like AG Aerial Kids. It combines gymnastics, expressive movement, rhythm, and vocal play with mindfulness practices to deliver an exciting, playful, natural-movement workout.

Every class balances fun, structured kinesthetic play with child-centered improvisation and free exploration. Kids acquire fitness skills naturally—by trying them out, combining them, and creating. While they are having fun, they are learning how to tune into their own bodies, gaining greater body awareness and athletic skills.

AG Aerial Kids is the visceral experience of physics—of force and motion, momentum and timing, balance and fulcrum point. Children sense with the body and move through space, in time.

“Children need to play, jump, swing, spin, climb, and fly. These activities may drive parents crazy, but they actually fine-tune kids’ developing proprioceptive and vestibular systems.”

–Christopher Harrison
Founder, AntiGravity Fitness

This is the antidote to screen-time
disembodiment

Children are more sedentary than ever before. They crave movement, yet their opportunities for physical play are often limited. Add to this, the increasing amounts of time they spend on screens and you can see why so many children have challenges in:

  • Proxemics (appropriate boundaries between self and others)
  • Sensory-motor skills
  •  Coordination, spatial orienting, and proprioception
  • Vestibular system (seeking increased stimulation or avoiding movement)
  • Postural stability
  • Peripheral vision
  • Overall disembodiment—an unintegrated body, mind, and soul.

AG Aerial Kids is the antidote. It’s all about re-embodiment.
Kinesthetic intelligence comes from connecting one’s inner world with one’s body, with the outer world, and with space and time. Children need time to explore embodied movement.

This is a whole new animal

Two stand-alone, 10-class series, based on the forces of nature engage kids in imaginative, athletic movement through themed poses and sequences:

The Earth Series
Focus: Stabilization, balance, strength, foundation, and grounding
Imaginative movement sequences include Orangutan Hangs, Elephant Twist, Hungry Caterpillar, Galloping Pony, Long-Necked Dinosaur, Lion, Gorilla Swings, and Zen Panda.

The Water Series
Focus: Fluidity, spine flexibility, agility, and strength
Imaginative movement sequences include Cannonball, Swordfish, Eel Dance, Starfish, Jellyfish Gyro, Dragonfly, Hidden Sharks, Mermaid, and Snapping Turtle.

Supported exploration means children overcome both physical and mental limitations. They gain confidence, create their own natural movements independently (with instructor support), and work cooperatively as a team. It’s the perfect balance of child-centered, creative expression and team building—all in a fun, noncompetitive way.
